Another angel

August in Ogden.
The sky is a sort of muzzy biscuit color.  The mountains are bleary and indistinct.
The Sunsets are amazing.
The atmosphere seems to suit my mood.
Amber, Rosie, Lois, Briden, Midge, Gidget, Eddie, Junie and I are still spending our days being as creative and productive as we can be.  Most days we are also happy, goofy, and giggly.

This week has been hard.
My world got smaller.  Heaven got bigger. I don't know what to say at such times except I will miss a dear, kind friend, and my heart hurts for those she's left behind.

Tooting it For Her

You and I know how amazing Miss Amber is, but now the rest of the world is starting to notice.  Those of you who have visited the shop know that she's been doing small paintings on tile using alcohol inks.

Last week she entered two of them into the Utah Third Annual Petite Impressions Show.

She took First place with her piece titled "Into The woods"!

I'm delighted because these pieces showcase not only her artistic ability but her skill as a framer as well.

Miss Amber you are an amazing human.  I never cease to be amazed by you.  You go girl!

Powdered sugar days

Remember when you were in grade school and the lunches were actually delicious? Today reminds me of those lunchroom brownies with a light dusting of powdered sugar.  YUM!

So, our Thanksgiving feast was a disaster.  I burned the turkey, made the lumpiest gravy on the planet and forgot the ham entirely.  The table was lovely (thanks to my helpful niece) and the company was delightful, so I've gotta conclude that this Thanksgiving was THE BEST EVER!

 And here's the aftermath.  UGH!

I spent the morning wading through those awful Black Friday e-mails. Now I'm taking a quick break to print my "What's on order" list and go see what framing I can actually get finished up.
Here's an amazing finish from last week.
Santa has never looked better!

I probably won't be blogging as frequently in the next few weeks.  I'm having terrible guilt when I sit at the computer instead of finishing framing projects.  I'll be back once I wade through the pile.
Happy Holidays!

Jolly Old Elves, Fairy Godmothers, and dear friends.

I'm burning the midnight oil tonight.  It's my own fault.  I decided to try to clean my back room and came across a box of stuff from my college days.  I did my best to purge, but the back room is still a mess and I didn't get a heck of a lot of framing done.

I saw Santa twice before I started work this morning.  Who knew he drives a Ford?   It's a little early, yet.  Maybe he's just checking up on me?

While I was purging the back room, I found an employee evaluation from one of my first bosses and let's just say it was neither nice nor was it constructive.  It probably played a major role in why I own my own business and I try to treat my employees with kindness and compassion.  I am surrounded by love and laughter every day and that one poor evaluation is partly to blame.  Thank you Ms. Petke, wherever you are.  I hope the world has been kind to you.

Here are some more delicious pieces from the recently completed file.
I'm off to paint some slate snowmen before I go home.  I don't want today to be totally unproductive.

Yes, Miss Janet, FOUR dogs

Today is the last day of unseasonably warm weather.  The weatherman has been telling me all week that our first snowstorm is coming tomorrow.  He and I are no longer on speaking terms.  I won't forgive him until he shows up at my doorstep late in March with flowers -  preferably crocuses and hyacinths with a promise of tulips to come.

I made a to-do list today.   Once I carved the Herb and Wool Gatherer mats that I had promised for today,  I had to actually make a map of all the errands I had to run so I could use my time efficiently.(I can hardly stand to take time away from the shop)  While I was doing errands, my talented crew finished up some lovelies.

My day ended with a field trip to see "America's Christmas Tree".   Apparently, it visited Ogden today.  I say apparently, because THIS is the view I got.  I'm sure it will be much prettier once they add the tinsel!

Monday fun day.

I'm having a Monday.  It's probably a good thing since it actually is Monday!  I've already had several deliveries and a few phone calls.  I just got back from my daily game of doggie twister.  (some people would call it a walk, but with four dogs and four leashes, I'm lucky I'm still upright.

Miss Amber has just finished up a frosty treat.

It's just mid-day and she's already given herself an artist's manicure!

Here's one of my favorite sampler mouldings.  It's rich, elegant, and feels like autumn.

I'm off to chop up today's mouldings.

Drums, sirens and traffic jams

It took us about a half an hour to travel the route from home to the studio today.  Most days it's a 7 minute journey.  My irritation melted the moment I saw a small child dressed as Ariel wagging her little mermaid tail in a hurried effort to get to the parade.

The fur babies are keeping an eye on the passers-by. Drum corps are thrum thrum thrumming.  Little yorkies are harumph harumph harumphing.  Sometimes in time with the drums, sometimes in time with the drummers in their heads.  (I'm pretty sure those drummers are actually squirrels.)

Miss Lois is patiently tucking and pinning this week's stitching in order to ready them for next week's fitting.

Nicole is poking at her phone having a conversation without uttering a word (as all youngsters do these days)

I'm working out some mat colors for a pincushion that want's to be a framed piece.

I'm off to get a little work done before I start my weekend chores.
